Chapter 8

Cole

“What. The. Fuck?”

Beady little eyes stared back at me.

I’d been such a fool.

All this time, the menace right in front of my face had been fucking with my girl.

“H-hello?”

I shook my head, fury racing through me as I saw he still had the phone. I didn’t speak, only reached across the space between us and wrapped my palm around his throat.

He gargled once, eyes growing big before I yanked the phone from his hand. The call was still active, the name on the screen: BABY.

I pressed end on the call and tossed his phone on the floor, stomping it to smithereens with my boot.

“She’s not your baby, Malcolm.” I pressed at his windpipe. “Didn’t I already teach you a lesson once?” I seethed at his ear. “Why’d you go and piss me off again?”

My gaze slid across the room, rage filling me as I spotted pictures of Silver taped on the wall above his office desk. Different poses, her at work, her at school, her outside of my place.

“You are dead.”

My adrenaline jumped into overdrive when I remembered the small knife I had tucked in my pocket. My fingers curled around the cold metal as I pulled it out and silently flicked it open.

My muscles twitched, the rage infiltrating my blood stream.

I was prepared to slit his throat, throw him aside and make sure Silver was safe forever.

Just as I reached my arm out to slash his throat, a form materialized and suddenly blood was everywhere.

Warm red blood, wet on my hands, my body, my face.

I no longer saw the weaselly face of Malcolm. I saw red. His blood. And then my world faded to black.
